Benefits of Healthy Protein Chocolate Cookies with Walnuts
There are many reasons to make your own healthy delicious protein chocolate cookies. Here are a few reasons to time and make your own:
- They are gluten-free and can be enjoyed by anyone who is gluten intolerant or who is eating low carbohydrates.
- There is no sugar added to this recipe. The sweetness is coming from the natural sweetener Stevia and the sugar-free chocolate chips
- Basic healthy ingredients like eggs, milk, and natural cocoa powder,
- The optional walnuts give this recipe a good source of healthy fats instead of trans fats like shortening.
- No enriched flour used in this recipe or processed oils, and fats
Best Chocolate Protein Powder
This recipe has plenty of protein because of the 2 scoops of protein powder and the eggs. You can even add extra protein if you like. You can use whatever protein powder you like, chocolate, vanilla, or even oatmeal flavor for this recipe. My favorite protein powder is bodybuilding.com signature brand or Dymatize Elite brand.
Ingredient Substitution
There are a few different ways to make this recipe your own, you can use almonds instead of walnuts as the topping.
You can also use almond flour or coconut flour instead of oatmeal to lower the carbohydrates in this recipe. If you do decide to use almond flour the total fat will be a little higher but if you are following a keto diet them almond flour will be a much better option.
This recipe calls for almond milk but you can also replace it with any other milk option of your choice. For example, soy, coconut, or dairy milk.
